Smoke/Heat Extraction And Natural Ventilation Systems
During the process of escape from a building that is on fire, smoke tends to enter the common parts of the building such as corridors, stairwells and the lobby. A smoke ‹Control System is designed to ventilate this smoke and to protect the common stair, to ensure safe occupant escape, and clear access for the fire service.
Conventional fire alarm
In a conventional system, the building is divided into zones, with each zone connected to a specific circuit on the control panel. When a fire alarm device in a particular zone is triggered, it sends a signal to the control panel, which in turn activates alarms in that zone.
Addressable fire alarm system
An addressable system utilises a loop configuration containing all the fire alarm devices, including sounders and beacons/VAD. A loop wired system can use less cable compared to that of a more extensive conventional system. Each device on an addressable system utilises a system-wide protocol.
Fire Sprinkler System
A fire sprinkler system is a simple, but key, active component of a domestic or commercial building's fire protection system. Installed in ceilings or side walls, the system consists of a water supply, a water distribution piping system and sprinkler heads. Sprinkler systems have been around since the late 19th century, when they were pioneered by Hiram Stevens Maxim. They are now extensively used worldwide, with over 40 million sprinkler heads fitted each year. A system will generally involve water being held under pressure in a network of pipes running through a building
Fire Hydrant System
A fire hydrant system provides a source of water to assist firefighters in battling a fire. It comprises pumps, pipes, hydrant valves, hoses, and nozzles that work together. Water is stored in a reliable source like mains or a tank. Fire hydrant installation consists of a system of pipe work connected directly to the water supply main to provide water to each and every hydrant outlet and is intended to provide water for the firemen to fight a fire. The water is discharged into the fire engine form which it is then pumped and sprayed over fire. Where the water supply is not reliable or inadequate, hydrant pumps should be provided to pressurize the fire mains.
